Presentation One                  9:15 am
"Embracing Operational Resilience in North America"
Terry Lampropoulos  Director, Operational Resilience at Canada Life

Operational Resilience (“OR”) has been a pre-pandemic buzzword in North America even though financial institutions (“FI”) across the United Kingdom and European Union have already been demonstrating "OR" capabilities. With North American FIs, which includes banks and insurance companies, now getting prepared to embrace Operational Resilience due to expected regulatory guidance, OR leads are being identified across companies, hiring for resources has commenced, and efforts to understand this new frontier are well-underway.

In the midst of all this excitement, raging industry debates are prompting questions such as Isn’t Operational Resilience just Business Continuity Management? or Will Operational Resilience replace Business Continuity?  At this point in time, there is no right answer and there might not be one for the foreseeable future.  However, risk managers, business continuity practitioners, and life-long learners can focus that energy on becoming aware, embracing what is known, understanding organizational objectives, and being prepared to change the future of risk management in North America.  This presentation will outline common sense approaches to embracing Operational Resilience and how to have some fun at the same time.

Break                                    10:15 am             Coffee, pastries, facilities.

Presentation Two                 10:30 am
"Third Party Risk Management"
Phil Racco   Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Services practice, MNP
Deepak Jaswal   Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Services group, MNP

With a growing reliance on third parties to deliver organizational services, there is an increased risk exposure that organizations must manage. From data breaches to operational disruption, from compliance to reputational damage, your third parties’ risks become your risks, and managing these exposures has become more important than ever. Third Party Risk comes from the potential threats stemming from the use of vendors, affiliates and other external parties to support your organization.

During this presentation, we will consider key components from the vendor lifecycle, from selection through to offboarding and service renewal. Areas of discussion will include: Vendor Risk Management and Life Cycle Overview, Vendor and Internal Due Dilligence, Vendor Criticality Assessment, Vendor Performance Monitoring, Vendor Evaluation and Vendor Off-Boarding / Service Renewal.

We look forward to hosting this roundtable and discussing this area of increasing importance to the field of operational resilience.

Lunch                                    11:30 am to 12:15 pm

Presentation Three               12:15 pm to 1:15 pm
"Building Cyber Crisis Resilience:  An Interactive Simulation"
Michael Prior, Enterprise Account Manager: Immersive Labs

As we continue to evolve our corporate defences against cyber crime, we are finding that even the best crisis response plans struggle to account for the human element. The performance of your technology might be a known quantity, but what about your human capabilities? This interactive session will test organization–wide decision-making skills using a realistic cyber crisis.

Join this interactive session to:
- Understand the business impact of technical choices, stakeholder management actions and more
-  See real-time data on the effects of decisions on crisis management and response
-  Strengthen your organization on both sides for greater resilience
